alice

i'm very excited to see tim burton's alice in wonderland. on rottentomatoes, it received a 60% "freshness" so the plot seems to be okay. hopefully the story itself won't fail my expectations like avatar did. if you've seen any of the movie stills, you'll know how beautiful it looks anyhow. the color palette has a nice warm muted tone.

RIP Alexander McQueen

i also wanted to post something about mcqueen here in commemoration of his accomplishments and impact in the fashion industry. he was such a creative and intelligent man. just look at his work; he never failed in constructing marvelous, surprising pieces. he's going to be greatly missed.

bora aksu

this is kinda old by now, but bora aksu's collection for s/s10 is really cool. i've never heard of him until i randomly clicked on his name on the nymag runway show listings, but i'm glad that i did because his garments look like pieces of textural art. i love the ink-in-water-like cut outs and the use of sheer materials. this was really fun to look at.

photos from boraaksu.com see the rest of his collection/previous work there.

point a

i've decided to immerse myself in the blogging world in a more participatory sense. and in the meantime, document my progress for others to see too. (plus, i wanted to do a bit of fashion blogging but not too much)

these two were painted in gouache and i used direct photo reference from thesartorialist i apologize for the greyness since i don't feel like walking outside to find a scanner. so, the colors are more subdued than in reality.
